 Dr. Hank Harris, D.V.M., Ph.D. - Founder & President
 
Dr. Harris is one of the world's leading authorities on infectious diseases of swine and related pathogens in humans.  He was one of the founders of NOBL Laboratories, a successful biotechnology company that was acquired by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica (BIV), as well as having previously served as Vice President for PIC USA, Inc, a global leader in pig breeding and genetics.  Dr. Harris is a professor in the Animal Science and Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine Departments at Iowa State University.

 

  

 

 

 Kurt I. Kamrud, Ph.D. - Vice President of Research and

Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Kamrud is an expert in the field of infectious diseases. After completing his doctorate in microbiology, focusing on the use of alphavirus vectors to examine insect/virus interactions, he conducted research at the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) developing alphavirus replicon-based vaccines. Prior to joining Harrisvaccines in June of 2010, Dr. Kamrud served as the Director of Discovery at AlphaVax, Inc., the commercial developer of the alphavirus replicon vaccine system used at Harrisvaccines. Dr. Kamrud has been granted four international patents pertaining to the alphavirus replicon system.  

  

 

 

 
 
 
 Joel Harris - Chief Marketing Officer
 
Harris graduated from the University of Iowa in May of 2008 with a B.A. degree in economics.  While at the University of Iowa, Harris served on the Executive Board of the U of Iowa Campus Activities Board and the Executive Board of U of Iowa Pre-Law Fraternity Chapter Phi Alpha Delta. He started part-time at Harrisvaccines in March of 2008 and became Marketing and Accounts Manager in June of 2008. He was named Chief Marketing Officer in January of 2010.
 
 
 
 
 
  
 
 
 
 
Adam Koppes - Chief Financial Officer
 
Koppes graduated from the University of Iowa in December of 2008 with a B.B.A. degree in finance and a Certificate of Entrepreneurship.  While at the University of Iowa Koppes served on the Executive Board of the Business Technology Association and was a member of the University of Iowa Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta. Koppes started part-time at Harrisvaccines in December of 2008 and became Chief Financial Officer in January of 2010. 
 
 
 
 
 
  
 
 
 
 David Baum, D.V.M., Ph.D. - Vice President of Sales
 
and Technical Services
 
 
Dr. Baum earned his master's degree in immunobiology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University. He later earned a Ph.D. in veterinary microbiology with an emphasis in veterinary preventative medicine from Iowa State. Prior to joining Harrisvaccines,  Dr. Baum served as vice president of health and technical services for Newsham Choice Genetics. As vice president of sales and technical services, Dr. Baum will develop and manage the Harrisvaccines sales team in addition to providing in-depth product information and technical expertise for veterinarians and their customers. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Ryan Vander Veen, Ph.D. - Chief Production Officer
 
Dr. Vander Veen graduated with a B.S. in microbiology from South Dakota State University, and received his Ph.D. in immunobiology from Iowa State University in December 2011. As Chief Production Officer, Dr. Vander Veen is responsible for overseeing development and implementation of processes required for vaccine production using Harrisvaccines exclusive vector platform technology.  Dr. Vander Veen joined Harrisvaccines in September of 2008.
